Tess had her litter sired by Redman on March 11th, one day past her due date.  She woke me up around 1:00 a.m. and the first pup was born at 2:49…the last pup at 4:15.  So much for a nights sleep!  She had 6 beautiful strong pups all ranging in weight from 5 7/8 to 6 7/8 ounces.  4 Girls and 2 boys, mostly black with white and 1 dark red sable.  Their temporary names will be celebrating the blooms of spring!

The pups are 3 1/2 weeks.  I put a litter box in the whelping box this past weekend to start the litter box training.  This coming weekend after having the box for a week, they will go into a larger ex pen with a little more space.  As they get more consistent with using the box, their play area becomes larger.  I have started playing music since their ears are now opening. Tess has been a wonderful mother and doesn’t have any problem feeding 6 pups.
