Bella Dulce I Love Lucy @ Starborn
Starborn Red Letter Day At Mariposa
December 3rd Happy Birthday!
Lucy practicing with her "pretend" baby
Lucy and Rooney's (A son of Redman owned by my good friend Michele Nieberding of Mariposa
Havanese) puppies were born in the late afternoon of December 3rd. This is Lucy's first litter so it always
amazes me that they know exactly what to do and what to expect! She had a very calm whelping and
was visibly happy and smiling with each puppy. After the first 3 were born she took a long 2 hour nap
cuddling her babies and then proceded to calmly have two more. She's a natural at mothering! This will
be our "Tis the season"! litter
Tis the Season!
The pups are almost 3 weeks old. Their eyes and ears are now open. They are really starting
to use their legs and their voices! I have started playing music for them and handle them
several times each day...
The pups are now 4 weeks
old. They have had a litter box
since 3 weeks and are doing
well with it, so they moved to
larger quarters. Now they have
more room to play and more
room for obstacles and toys.
They listen to a variety of music
and have met the adult dogs.
This week they will get a taste
of puppy milk and cereal.
The pups are 5 weeks. They are much more interested in us now so I think the weaning process is
starting. They ignored the puppy mush for a week, but are now starting to show interest and are excited
when I bring it. We bring them out to explore with the other dogs and will soon set up a playpen with some
obstacles and toys. They are doing good using the litterbox and I think they are ready for a larger space to
The pups are 7 weeks now. They love to come out and play with the big dogs. They
are eating solid food and getting more agile every day. Their litter box training has
gotten reliable enough that they get to run loose in our great room during playtime.
When they get tired, they go back in their sleeping pen. They nap to soft music.
Lucy's pups are now 8 weeks. They have matured in so many ways! They are allowed
playtime in the large area of the room where the adults dogs sleep and I do my grooming. They
have obstacles set up and love the space for running. It's just way too cold to use the screened
porch or the yard. They also have playtime in our greatroom with the adult dogs in the
evenings. They have not had any accidents playing in these large spaces, and run to the litter
boxes if they need to go. They are happy, funny puppies and we are really enjoying them. For
this weeks pictures, we worked on stacking on the ringside table, plus a few bonus pics!
This is the last photo session with Lucy's pups. They will be going to their wonderful new
homes next week. We have had so much fun with these puppies. I will miss all these
beautiful boys, but Twinkle the only girl will be staying here! :)
